Linen items (linen products)
Flax as a grain culture began to be cultivated in the Neolithic era (VIII-III centuries BC). This is confirmed by samples of linen fabrics found during the excavations of an ancient village built on stilts on one of the Swiss lakes. Other, more recent examples have come down to us with the remains of Egyptian pharaohs. Their preservation was influenced by the special conditions inside the Egyptian pyramids and, perhaps, by the embalming substances used in mummification.
